World Cup 2022 NFTs

FIFA, Budweiser and others launch soccer-themed NFTs ahead of Qatar 2022.
November 14, 2022

With fans able to both witness and own famous moments, Qatar 2022 will provide a completely new way to experience the FIFA World Cup.

Before the event, which will begin this week, FIFA, Budweiser, and Visa are just a few of the corporations that have introduced new NFTs.

The NFT-fever has spread throughout the sport, and both players and organizations are now providing a wide range of options for customers to purchase souvenirs that are related to their brand and past.

As more teams place their bets on NFTs to transform the fan experience, blockchain technology in soccer continues to grow rapidly.

What exactly is NFT?

NFT stands for 'Non-Fungible Token,' and it is a blockchain-based concept similar to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

Allow prospective buyers to own an original copy of a digital file, such as a physical piece of art or a rarely worn sports jersey.

The Merge, a work of art created by digital artist Pak that sold for a staggering $91.8 million in December 2021, was the most expensive NFT in the technology's short history.

With the advent of online marketplaces and games, NFTs have become a popular venture for football clubs and players. The Premier League is reportedly in talks to join the MLS, La Liga, and the Bundesliga in collaborating with blockchain companies.

Collections are frequently iconic league-related moments or works of art featuring a specific player.

Former Chelsea defender John Terry's Ape Kids Football Club NFT program was one of the first to fail earlier this year, with collectibles falling to 1% of their original value.

Collect NFTs from the FIFA+ World Cup in 2022

FIFA+ Collect is the new NFT platform from FIFA, which collaborated with Algorand on the Qatar tournament.

The platform features NFT collections from both the men's and women's World Cups, including iconic moments, art, and images.

FIFA's 'Genesis Drop' leads the pack with 532,980 packs containing iconic moments from previous tournaments of varying rarity. Two more versions have since been released.

Examples include Brazilian legend Ronaldo's game-winning goal in the 2002 final and Kylian Mbappe's goal in France's 2018 comeback victory over Argentina.

The exclusive and limited edition content will be streamed on FIFA+, a platform that will also feature live matches and original content.

The plan, according to FIFA's director of operations Romy Gai, "will democratize the ability to own a piece of the World Cup."

World Cup Budverse X 2022 NFT

FIFA is collaborating with the world's largest beer company, Budweiser, to create a new batch of live NFTs in Qatar.

Live Scoring During the Qatar 2022 contests, NFT will provide starters access to an animated scoreboard that features their selected nation and is updated frequently.

The "Budverse" partnership will probably be a precursor to the NFT trend going live with updated metrics.

In order to complement its digital collections, Budweiser offers customers a scarf, a foil cup that changes color, and a trading card.

Other World Cup-related NFTs

Visa is participating in the NFT craze by holding an auction to support the UK organization Street Child United.

Jared Borgetti, Tim Cahill, Carli Lloyd, Michael Owen, and Maxi Rodriguez each had five compilations of their historic World Cup goals manufactured and auctioned to the highest bidder.

What are the prices of World Cup NFTs?

Packs on FIFA's Collect platform start at $4.99, while "Iconic" collectibles on commercial markets can cost up to $3,200.

Each Live Leaderboard NFT for the Budverse X World Cup collaboration will set you back $100.
