UnicornDAO, a digital arts collective, has raised $4.5 million in funding to empower women and LGBTQ-led non-tradable token (NFT) initiatives, and participants come from all corners of the NFT market.

UnicornDAO is led by social activist and founding member of Russian art collective Pussy Riot, Nadya Tolokonnikova. Tolokonnikova has been an arts activist for over a decade with UkraineDAO, a project that has raised $6.75 million for Ukraine's military effort against Russia by selling the latest Ukrainian flag's NFT.

Musicians Sia and Grimes, and NFT personalities Beeple and Gary Vaynerchuk are among the DAO's leading members, with additional funding from World of Women and Moonbirds NFT collections, crypto trading app MoonPay, blockchain network Polygon, and Yuga Labs. Creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.

According to a press release, UnicornDAO has invested $1.4 million in NFT art from underrepresented communities.
“We are currently focusing on helping Web 3 artists,” Tolokonnikova told CoinDesk in an interview. According to the press release, UnicornDAO members are expected to contribute money and time to DAO activities, and early investors will take board seats.
