Warner Bros, the production company behind the TV drama series "Game of Thrones" has announced plans to launch a new collection of NFTs in a new version of the cryptocurrency. The NFT collection was revealed just a few weeks after the movie studio released the "Lord of the Rings" NFT collection last month.
On November 2, the American film and entertainment company confirmed its plans to release a "Game of Thrones" NFT collection in a blog post. Nifty's, a green NFT platform, has partnered with Warner Bros.
To create the new Game of Thrones upcoming NFT collection, the film production company collaborated with US pay television, Home Box Office, and 3D software and content producer Daz 3D.
The Game of Thrones upcoming NFT collection will be released this winter, according to the announcement. Owners will be able to create avatars based on characters from the hit series and universe with the new collection.
Owners of the NFT Collection will be able to obtain a virtual weapon release for their avatar. Warner Bros NFT Business Development Director Josh Hackbarth commented on the new upcoming NFT project:
"As always, our goal is to create new ways for fans to interact with the stories and characters they love, and we're thrilled to expand the fandom with this special collectible show that will engage fans on a deeper level while also allowing them to improve the overall fan experience."
However, Warner Bros' NFT comes at a time when the film production company is in deep financial trouble, having lost more than $3.4 billion in the third quarter of this year.
Warner Bros. believes its entry into the NFT market, which has shown remarkable resilience in the aftermath of the pandemic and the recent crypto market crash, will result in massive profits and help it pay off up to $53 billion in current debt.
