Square Enix is a Japanese gaming conglomerate. It intends to build a blockchain and NFT ecosystem across a number of its gaming assets this year.
Square Enix used the Shi-San-Sei Million Arthur game to test NFTs. They tested it earlier this year, with other titles potentially following suit. It's unclear whether this will include Bravely Default Brilliant Lights, which debuted earlier this year and surpassed four million downloads in less than two weeks.
Following a previous collaboration in February that brought the Dungeon Siege franchise to The Sandbox. Venture capital firm named Animoca Brands is expanding its partnership with Square Enix to develop its Web3 plans.
"Square Enix has already been talking about the potential of blockchain games for a long time". Animoca Brands executive chairman Yat Siu told to Cointelegraph.
Embracer Group announced the acquisition of Square Enix studios Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix Montréal, and Eidos Montréal, as well as studio-related IP such as Tomb Raider, earlier this month.
