The largest streaming service in the world, has decided to join the NFT majority.

Spotify is experimenting with including NFTs in certain artist profiles. But don't open the Spotify app just yet. Only a subset of Android users in the United States are participating in the feature testing. "Spotify is running a test to help a small group of artists promote their existing third-party NFT offerings through their artist profile," according to TechCrunch. "We run a series of tests on a regular basis to improve the experience for artists and fans." This feature was inspired by requests from industry partners as well as a desire to strengthen bonds between artists and fans.

On artist pages, NFT galleries are a simple grid of static images. The Spotify app does not include videos, GIFs, or sounds. Direct links to each NFT's OpenSea page, on the other hand, are displayed in the app for users to fully explore and purchase an NFT. As part of the testing, Spotify will not charge commissions or fees for purchases made through in-app navigation.

The Wombats and Steve Aoki are among the artists featured in the NFT preview. Given Aoki's interest in NFTs, it's not surprising that he put them to the test. The NFT previews are unclear whether they will be more of an experiment, as Spotify stated in the aforementioned tech post that such tests "pave the way for a broader experience" or "only serve as important learning."
